The Case of Carlijn
Carlijn, a Dutch girl, was about six years old
when she started telling her family that she had lived before. Among other
things, she told them that she used to have dark hair and a dark skin and
that her name had been Surea, Suriya or Suraya. She recalled having had lots
of brothers and sisters and there were many horses around. She claimed she
had died a the age of
four. She was covered with sand after she was reckless enough to climb into
a freshly dug hole.
One night in September 2005, just before she
went to bed, Carlijn told her Mum how glad and lucky she felt to have her
as a mother.
Carlijn said she had been allowed to choose. Her mother thought she meant
that she had seen many mothers in a row from which she had to pick one. But
Carlijn explained that she had seen her mother-to-be being born and she
looked very sweet. She knew at once that this was the person who was going
to be her Mum. Carlijn had to wait a long time before her Mum was ready, as
she was 29 when Carlijn was born.
